Karan & His Fresh New Brigade!

For a while no, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has been allocating a number of projects to first or second time directors to kick-start numerous films.
The journey started way back in 2008 with TarunMansukhani’s directorial debut ‘Dostana’, followed by Rensil D’Silva’s ‘Kurbaan’… then came a series of successful projects like Ayan Mukherjee’s ‘Wake Up Sid’, Siddharth Malhotra’s ‘We Are Family’, Punit Malhotra’s ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ and now in production, Shakun Batra’s ‘Short Term Shaadi’& Karan Malhotra’s ‘Agneepath’. Also, the news about Dostana 2 & Koochie Koochie Hota Hai has been having rounds in the industry for quiet some time now.
When asked about venturing into such wide verticals & experimenting with so many new talents, Karan explains, “Believe me; it’s not difficult at all. All of you have to do is follow a three point ‘mantra’ – ‘Delegation’, ‘Outsourcing’ and ‘Trust’. Along with that, if you have the right vision and infrastructure in place, which we do have in Dharma Productions, it isn’t difficult to crack it all .That’s the way you manage things and I have been fortunate enough to have a team with which it has become possible to helm number of projects at the same time”.
One surely wonders as to what motivates Karan to take up projects with each experimenting & twisting the usual norms. To this, the man himself, replies, “Well, we start off with an understanding to make 2-3 films and then they can move on if it is mutually agreeable. More than any written contract, what is most important for me is the loyalty factor. Fortunately, all the directors with whom I am working currently are very loyal for Dharma. I do believe that loyalty is such a rare facet. You can’t buy it; it has to come by itself.”

IMRAN KHAN- The latest Photographer!

As it’s rightly said that an actor is not just restricted to one but many roles, a saying which has been rightly proved by actor Imran Khan, who will be next seen in ShakunBatra’s Short Term Shaadi along with KareenaKapoor. The actor had expressed his desire to work with Bebo more than once.,- thinks that Kareena  is not just flawless but is also bestowed with amazing ethereal quality. Wow, that’s something ususual to say…
So, while shooting for his Dharma Production’s next film, Imran grabbed the chance and started capturing his lead actress, Kareena, in different moods. Look’s like B town has just discovered a new talent!

Dharma Productions strikes a Musical Chord with T - Series

For the first time ever Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has struck a deal with T-Series for its forthcoming movie Short Term Shaadi , currently T – Series has the audio-video copyrights over 40 forthcoming Hindi films. Prior to this the music rights of Dharma Productions where released by Sony Music India.

Short Term Shaadi stars Imran Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Boman Irani and Ram Kapoor among others.

“I have always loved the films made by Karan Johar, not only for their content and aesthetic appeal, but also for their beautiful music, which has always been their major strength. We are delighted to have acquired the music rights of Short Term Shaadi. And we hope that this is just the beginning of a long creative association,” said T-Series chairman and managing director Bhushan Kumar.

Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shakun Batra, Short Term Shaadi is an out and out romantic comedy that has Imran playing a unique role – that of a highly conservative, fussy architect, with a rigid attitude. He falls in love with Kareena Kapoor, a liaison which changes him completely. Kareena, on the other hand, plays a hairstylist who teaches him about life and love. The film takes place in a compressed time frame of a little more than a week and deals with how my character changes within that short span of time. It has been shot in Las Vegas and India.

Karan goes the X-factor way

Talent is appreciated by all and in this case Dharma production is no exception to this rule. Although the above case is true, very few get such a lucky chance to prove their mettle. Well let’s just say the competition is quite fierce all together in the entertainment industry. Karan Johar, counted among one of the brightest and most admired directors in the entertainment world both nationally as well as internationally, has decided to mentor and help the winner of Sony India’s X-factor find a footing in this industry.

A loyal friend and a man true to his word, it is obvious that the X-factor winner is not only going to get a wonderful experience to work with a top-notch production house but also  make a mark in the music industry. With every Dharma soundtrack being so scintillating and catchy the X-factor winner is in for a long stay in this industry.

This thrilling news was announced by the show host Aditya Narayan on Karan Johar’s behalf to the final twelve contestants when Karan visited the X-factor set where the show judges are none other than famous lead singers Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam and legendary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

But the cherry on the cake is the small tiff resolved between both Karan and Sanjay with a big bear hug. What’s the point in keeping enmity when friendship is a much better alternative? Whoever the well-deserving winner is we will be waiting to hear your melodious voice sing to the tunes of the year’s best title track!
